As the gap between nursing education and practice widened due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Oregon Health and Science University School of Nursing identified an exciting opportunity for faculty and students to support the pandemic response. Susan Bakewell-Sachs, Dean of Nursing School at Oregon Health & Sciences University, shares how academic practice partnerships improve the transition from nursing school to nursing practice. These kinds of academic practice partnerships provide a deeper integration of education and practice, improving the transition into the nursing workforce and reducing the learning curve for newly graduated nurses.
