Johnson & Johnson and Global Citizen: Changing the Trajectory of Human Health

Through bravery, compassion, and ingenuity, front line health workers, including nurses, increase access to essential care for millions of people every day. Despite the long strides made in recent years to help recruit, educate, and foster leadership, there are still not enough front line health workers. Additionally, those that exist are in need of more training and resources, while communities around the world continue to suffer from a lack of access to essential health services.

Johnson & Johnson believes it is our responsibility to advocate for front line health workers, provide them with training opportunities, and connect them to the resources they need to change and save lives. For more than 120 years, we have supported front line health workers as the backbone of effective health systems, and today, we are proud to stand beside them and our non-governmental organization (NGO) partners on the front lines of care.

In an effort to help solve the world’s most pressing public health challenges and transform the lives of millions of people around the world for the better, we are dedicated to being first on the ground to combat global infectious diseases and support health workforce training in a way that supports a healthy environment. For the third consecutive year, Johnson & Johnson is proud to be the Major Health Partner for Global Citizen, a powerful social platform that brings together celebrities, policymakers, and people who are committed to ending global poverty.

Global Citizen is hosting a week-long movement with various events held throughout New York City that highlight the impact people around the world can have on issues like health, extreme poverty, human rights, and gender equality. The week of events leads up to a free music festival held in Central Park on September 29 that will be headlined by popular artists like Janet Jackson, The Weeknd, and Shawn Mendes. To earn tickets, fans can take action on issues surrounding extreme poverty by signing petitions, sending tweets, calling elected representatives, and more.

The concert is timed to coincide with the United Nations General Assembly on September 18, to raise awareness and leverage government aid for poverty-stricken communities, regions without access to basic healthcare resources, and countries with limited educational programs. The goal of Global Citizen’s year-long campaign is to magnify the impact of citizen’s voices and influence world leaders and decision makers, ultimately contributing to shaping improvements in communities around the world.
