Nurses Experience Reformulated Johnson’s® Line and Exclusive Preview of Sensorial Product for Newborns at 2018 AWHONN Convention

When a baby is born, nurses are among the child’s first caretakers. Nurses are there with expecting parents as they prepare for birth, and remain with the new family to establish and optimize everyday routines for both parents and baby. In order for nurses to prepare for this important role, organizations such as the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) provide educational, professional, and clinical resources to help nurses working in women's health, obstetrics, and neonatal nursing continue their education and remain up-to-date on emerging best practices.

Johnson & Johnson understands the critical role of women's health, obstetric, and neonatal nurses in paving a path for new families to care for their bundle of joy once he or she arrives. Knowing nurses are at the forefront of a newborn’s care and parents’ first moments with their child, Johnson & Johnson gave nurses at the 2018 AWHONN Convention an exclusive peek behind the curtain, allowing them to be the first to experience Johnson’s® revolutionized product line with improved formulations, modernized packaging, new sizes, and the all-new Johnson’s® CottonTouch™ products.

Moms can look to Johnson’s® to help them make everyday routines, like bath and massage, a special time with their baby for more interactions, more touch, more eye contact, and more enjoyment. As safe as ever, the new formulations achieve a new standard of gentle, using fewer ingredients across the line with more than 90 percent of natural origin*, and all were on display throughout the AWHONN Convention for attendees to touch and smell. Not only are Johnson’s® cleansers still NO MORE TEARS®, they are sulfate free, too. And while the product line remains paraben, phthalate, and formaldehyde free, the products are also dye free†, a feature shown to be desired by today’s mothers.

On this year’s AWHONN Convention floor, the Johnson & Johnson Global Scientific Engagement team conducted scientific demonstrations, educating nurse attendees on the research underpinning how sensorial engagement during everyday routines, such as bath time, can provide positive, beneficial experiences for babies’ healthy growth and development. Attendees were also encouraged to try the products for themselves, as products were placed throughout the convention restrooms, and to share photos on social media using #ChooseGentle from the Johnson’s® booth, where attendees could pose for selfies with life-size product models.

“Johnson & Johnson has been one of the premier sponsors for AWHONN’s Annual Convention, a gathering of more than 3,300 clinicians in obstetric, neonatal, and women’s health specialties,” shared Suzanne Berry, CAE, MBA, AWHONN interim chief executive officer. “As a result of this long-standing relationship, AWHONN has continued to grow and develop future nursing leaders in the U.S. through our Emerging Leaders Program, with more than 90 graduates, many of whom have become national leaders within AWHONN and their communities. With ongoing support from Johnson & Johnson, AWHONN’s Neonatal Skin Care Evidence-Based Guideline†† has been shared with nursing and midwifery organizations in many countries around the world, including Australia, China, Great Britain, India, Japan, the Philippines, Russia, and South Africa.”
